Helping women and birthing people navigate one of the most transitional phases of their lives makes me so happy. I want everyone to have an amazing birth and post birth journey.
— Stephanie

Outside of yoga, I am a Mama to 5 amazing kids first. I also volunteer as a breastfeeding peer counselor with LLL USA, where I am also a board member. Additionally, I founded a non-profit called Nourish & Thrive that focuses on breastfeeding equity aimed at supporting breastfeeding in the Black community.

What draws you to work with birthing people?

So much of what I do is brought on by my own experiences as a mother - the catalyst being my own birth trauma and wanting to help others who experience birth trauma.

What do you find challenging about your work & what brings you joy in it?

I find keeping my emotions separate from my work the most challenging. Being so passionate about maternal health and breastfeeding I always have to make sure I'm coming from a place of professionalism and keeping my personal feelings in check.

Helping women and birthing people navigate one of the most transitional phases of their lives makes me so happy. I want everyone to have an amazing birth and post birth journey.

Do you see any connections between your work in yoga? What are they?

The connection that I see in my work as a perinatal yoga instructor to the rest of my work really is on the focus of the whole person before, during, and after birth. You can focus on certain areas but everything is connected.

How can folks find out more about working with you?

You can follow me on Instagram @stephsnotachef and you can visit www.nourishandthrivemilk.org to find out more and support our work to support Black families in their breastfeeding journey.
