Meet Jenna

MEET Jenna Horgan, ONE OF OUR WHOLE MAMA YOGA COLLECTIVE MEMBERS

Jenna is a trauma-sensitive yoga teacher as well as a perinatal mental health and trauma therapist. She loves offering workshops that combine yoga and peer support (lately focused on a series for pandemic parents).

She also teaches yoga at Anchor Perinatal, North Carolina's only intensive outpatient therapy program for pregnant and postpartum folks.

Jenna recently opened her own private practice! She is excited to continue supporting parents and mothers in this way. She is currently not accepting new clients but you can get on her wait list for pregnant and postpartum support. To connect with therapist Jenna you can email therapy@jennahorgan.com.

To get on her mailing list for future workshops and yoga offerings, email jenna@riverflowcollectivehealing.com. Additionally, you can learn more & see her latest offerings at https://linktr.ee/riverflowcollectivehealing

How long have you practiced yoga?

Jenna taking Lauren’s online prenatal yoga class during the height of the covid-19 pandemic.

Yoga has been a part of my life for over 12 years (where does the time go?!) - I originally started practicing yoga when learning to manage chronic pain from endometriosis. Coming to the mat felt like coming home - it brought such incredible pain relief and also helped me grow in confidence and love for my body and its abilities.

Fast forward a few years, I was working at an arts center in El Salvador and got assigned the “yoga teacher by default” since there was no one trained in yoga in the town where I lived. Through moving together my students became my friends, and I am forever grateful for everything they taught me about Spanish, yoga, and community. I went on to get trained as a yoga teacher at Asheville Yoga Center and so my teaching journey began!

How has yoga supported your own parenting journey?

Becoming pregnant was a rocky road for me at times, and soon after becoming pregnant with my son the pandemic started! Yoga continued to be a place of calm and connection for me in that isolating time both pregnant and postpartum. I especially looked forward to my weekly classes with Alexandra and Lauren, where I could experience moving together with other humans in a similar stage in life. I loved it so much I got certified in prenatal/postnatal yoga! I am so excited and honored to be a part of the Whole Mama Yoga Collective.

Tell us about your work outside of yoga.

In addition to yoga, I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in perinatal and maternal mental health. I believe very much in the power of mindful movement and its role in our collective and individual healing journeys. Currently I hold monthly pandemic parent support groups through my support group and yoga business, River Flow Collective Healing.
